Actresses like Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman and Emily Blunt have been discussed as possibilities to co-star opposite Ben Affleck in "Gone Girl," but now a new name has surfaced. According to THR, Rosamund Pike is being mentioned as a potential lead in the David Fincher film. Pike, who co-stars in the upcoming comedy "The World's End," has appeared in numerous films, including "Jack Reacher," "Pride and Prejudice" and "Wrath of the Titans."
According to Variety, Pike has not tested for the role just yet. Actresses who have, though, include Julianne Hough, Olivia Wilde and Abbie Cornish.
Based on the best-selling thriller by Gillian Flynn, "Gone Girl" is about Nick and Amy Dunne, a married couple in the throes of a toxic battle of wills. Affleck was named as the front-runner to play Nick just last week, a move that forced the Oscar winner to shift his plans to direct "Live By Night," an adaptation of Dennis Lehane's book. Fincher was tapped as director a while back, making the former les enfant terrible behind "Fight Club" and "Se7en" the preeminent airplane book auteur of the moment: Fincher, of course, also directed "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo."
