Rosie O'Donnell addressed her troubles with her estranged daughter Chelsea O'Donnell recently at a stand-up show in New York City.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Rosie performed at Gotham Comedy Club on Saturday night, where she talked about the struggles she's had with her adopted daughter, who recently ran away and later gave a tell-all interview about life with her famous mother.
"I love all of my kids. My daughter has been in the news. It's been in the news, but it's not news to the family. It's been a decade long," Rosie said on Saturday. "Chelsea just turned 18. For adopted children, 18 is a magic number. At 18, they're gonna rebel any way they can, any way they can get your attention."
In August, Rosie asked for the public's help to find her daughter, then 17, after she went missing. Chelsea was later found and, upon turning 18 a week later, chose to live with her birth mother in Wisconsin.
Chelsea dubbed her adoptive mother a "phony" during the tell-all interview with the Daily Mail.
"I find her not genuine a lot of the time," Chelsea said. "When we'd go out, she was a completely different person in public than at home, and I had a hard time with that. It's like two different people." A rep for Rosie told The Huffington Post that the interview was "heartbreaking on every level."
