Rosie O'Donnell's adopted daughter, Chelsea, has chosen to live with her birth mother now that she's turned 18.

Chelsea O'Donnell made the decision to leave for Wisconsin with her birth mother, Deanna, who gave her up for adoption in 1997, Entertainment Online first reported Wednesday.

They left on Monday, the day of Chelsea's 18th birthday, according to TMZ. O'Donnell advised her not to leave and has cut off financial support.

"Chelsea made a decision when she turned 18 that she wanted to go to her birth mother," O'Donnell's spokeswoman, Cindi Berger, said in a statement to The Huffington Post. "This was her choice."

Last week, O'Donnell reported her daughter missing, saying she left home Aug. 11.

"Chelsea, like millions of people, lives with mental illness," a rep for the former talk show host told the Associated Press at the time. "It has been a difficult road for Chelsea and her family and they just want her back safe."

Authorities found the missing girl a week later, at the home of a 25-year-old man named Steven Sheerer in Barnegat, New Jersey. After authorities examined Chelsea O'Donnell's phone and found evidence of "inappropriate communications over the last several weeks between Sheerer and the minor," they arrested Sheerer and charged him with distribution of obscenity to a minor and endangering the welfare of a child, CNN reported.
