Russell Westbrook made his surprisingly quick return to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night and looked like the explosive point guard basketball fans are used to seeing.
The 24-year-old, who suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee back in April and underwent two surgeries, scored 21 points in his first game of the season to go along with seven assists and four rebounds. Westbrook's knee seemed to be just fine as he drove to the basket several times and shot 14 free throws.
The chemistry between Westbrook and Kevin Durant looked like it hadn't missed a beat as well. A couple of Westbrook's assists were fantastic passes to his superstar teammate for monster dunks.
"I'm able to do what I want. I could be better but that's all right. That's expected. I'm not expected to come back and be bionic man. I'm just going to work my way through it," Westbrook said, via the Associated Press.

Early in October, Westbrook underwent arthroscopic surgery (the second surgery since the injury) and was expected to miss the first four to six weeks of the regular season. But before Oklahoma City's 103-96 win over Phoenix, Westbrook said there was never a timetable.
“I don't know who made that up in the first place," he said, per Royce Young of CBSsports.com. "I was never on that timeline at all. I was just taking it day by day. Taking it one day at a time until I was ready to play.”
