Russell Wilson did not have the start to the NFC Championship Game that he would have liked. On the Seattle Seahawks' very first offensive play of the game, Wilson fumbled the ball. The second-year quarterback was rolling to his left when San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith got a hold of him. Smith forced the fumble and then managed to recover the loose ball before Wilson could get to it.

The fumble recovery gifted Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers offense terrific field position. They took over at the Seattle 15-yard line. Wilson's defensive teammates bailed him out, somewhat, by limiting the 49ers to a field goal.
