Ryan Grim On The Tension Between Boehner And McConnell (VIDEO)

Ryan Grim, HuffPost's senior congressional correspondent, appeared on MSNBC's "Countdown" Friday night -- with the show engulfed in some controversy -- to discuss the growing divide between the public statements of John Boehner, the Republican leader in the House, and his Senate counterpart, Mitch McConnell.

"McConnell is a combative partisan, and when he's asked what his top political goal is, he's going to say it's taking the White House. That's naturally what the political goal is of any opposition party," Grim told guest host Thomas Roberts. "Of course Boehner's top political goal is to keep the House and to then take the White House ... but McConnell going out there and maybe not realizing how that would be read, kind of puts Boehner in a position of looking weak in his caucus right now. So it is creating a little bit of tension on the Hill."
