Ryan Reynolds is thrilled that America's same-sex marriage laws have finally caught up with those of his native Canada.

The actor, whose sci-fi thriller "Self/less" hits theaters July 10, told HuffPost Live's Alyona Minkovski on Monday that he sees the Supreme Court's decision to legalize marriage equality as "fantastic" and "humane" but long overdue.

"I find it so kind of amusing how polarizing it can be here [in the United States]. Ted Cruz is saying it's 'judicial tyranny,' and to me it seems like a given," Reynolds said. "We shouldn't be in a state of awe and celebration for it; we should be taking it for granted like regular marriage at this point."
