SALARIES ARE GROWING IN PERU’S ARCHITECTURE INDUSTRY

The world of architect in Peru is booming. According to Gestion, Peru’s leading online financial and business magazine, architecture is the second fastest growing and best paying industry after medicine.

In Gestion’s June 3, 2016 publication, it outlines, in spreadsheet format, the universities and specialties that have proven to pay the highest wages due to market shifts. Architecture has jumped to second place beating geology and engineering that are traditionally high paying industries.

Peru’s architectural renaissance is largely due to the country’s focus on commercial plazas and malls. More and more Peruvians are climbing out of poverty having disposable income to go shopping and to the movies. In the last three years two-mega malls where built in Chiclayo located at the northern region of Peru and another in Juliaca in the province of Puño. Both malls are first of their kind in the region and have created a litany of external benefits serving as anchors for the creation of jobs and housing complexes.

Gestion magazine indicated that the top architects earn up to 5,000 soles, which is double the national average of common professional architects. To put that into perspective, Peru’s minimum wage is 750 Soles equivalent to $268 US Dollars.

In a survey conducted among the highest paid architects in Peru include the senior architects of the largest firms:
