Sally Kohn, Fox News Talking Head, Talks 'Emotional Correctness' On TED Talks

Political differences can be hard to overcome. However, is there more you could be doing to see the human part of the people who politically disagree with you?

In this Ted Talk, lesbian political commentator and community organizer Sally Kohn discusses why she thinks liberals and conservatives need to focus more on transcending their political differences and actually listen to one another -- an act that she calls "emotional correctness."

"For decades we've been focused on political correctness, but what matters more is emotional correctness," Kahn states in the above video. "Emotional correctness is the tone, the feeling, how we say what we say, the respect and compassion we show one another. What I've realized is that political persuasion doesn't begin with ideas or facts or data -- political persuasion begins with being emotionally correct."

Kohn knows firsthand the challenges that stem from contrasting political ideologies, given that she is a lesbian, liberal political talking head featured on Fox News.
