Sally Shapiro, Swedish Singer, Releases Queer New 'Starman' Video

WATCH: Sally Shapiro's Queer New Music Video

Bisexual Swedish singer Sally Shapiro just released her new video for her single “Starman” featuring Electric Youth and it's anything but typical.

The glittery clip features a tutu-clad protagonist, two spit-swapping Ken dolls and a spoken word rallying cry against normalcy.

Of the decidedly unconventional video Shapiro says in a press release:

"A starman, in this song, is someone who interests you despite, or maybe because of, being different than the people you usually surround yourself with. Given that a few of our other music videos have depicted boy-girl-love, we wanted the music video to illustrate something less heteronormative. We had already asked the German director Edwin Brienen to direct the music video when we told him that. It turned out that he was gay himself so he was enthusiastic to come up with the music video concept that we went for."

"Starman" will be featured on Shapiro's upcoming third album, Somewhere Else, due out Feb 26 on Paper Bag Records.

A full remix album featuring The Field, Nite Jewel, Tycho, Dan Lissvik and more will be out in April.
