"Good Morning America" weatherman Sam Champion and his fiance Rubem Robierb officially got married on Dec. 21 in NYC, Sam’s hometown, but the couple will also be having another wedding in Miami, Rubem’s hometown, on New Year’s Eve.

“It’s an idea that they both came to together,” a friend of the couple tells The Huffington Post. “The New Year’s Eve ceremony will have a much more party atmosphere to it. What better way to ring in 2013!”

Sam’s friend MSNBC’s anchor Thomas Roberts, the first national anchor to come out and the first to officially tie the knot with his long-time partner Patrick Abner in September, will officiate the wedding in Miami.

It was at Thomas’s wedding and in the New York Times Vows coverage that Sam spilled the beans about his upcoming end of the year wedding.

Thomas filed for his credentials and he and Patrick will be heading down to Florida.
