TBSβ Samantha Bee did not hold back Thursday in an explicit jab against ousted Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes, who resigned from the network amid allegations of serial sexual harassment.
Gretchen Carlson, a former Fox News host, sued Ailes earlier this month, claiming the executive fired her for rejecting his sexual advances. Several other women affiliated with the network came forward with similar stories of harassment by Ailes, reportedly including star anchor Megyn Kelly.
The account for Beeβs show, βFull Frontal,β dropped the mic on the controversy shortly after news of Ailesβ resignation broke:
Rupert Murdoch, the 21st Century Fox chairman who co-founded the cable news behemoth with Ailes, made no mention of the harassment allegations in his statement on the CEOβs departure.
βRoger Ailes has made a remarkable contribution to our company and our country. Roger shared my vision of a great and independent television organization and executed it brilliantly over 20 great years,β Murdoch said. βHis grasp of policy and his ability to make profoundly important issues accessible to a broader audience stand in stark contrast to the self-serving elitism that characterizes far too much of the media.β
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated Bee is a Comedy Central host. Her show airs on TBS.
