Samantha Bee’s Spectacular Takedown Of Trolls Who Went After Seattle Councilwomen

Seattle Sea-wards, FTW 🏆

In this week's edition of "Samantha Bee Is The Best Thing On Television," the comedian takes down online trolls who attacked five city councilwomen in Seattle after they voted against a bill that would allow the construction of a new sports stadium.

Sally Bagshaw, Lorena González, Lisa Herbold, Debora Juarez and Kshama Sawamt received a barrage of heinous responses after they voted against allowing a local entrepreneur to build the new stadium -- men of the Internet responded in true "men of the Internet" form with tweets like this one:

According to The Stranger, the women even received an email from a male lawyer with this charming sentiment: "As women, I understand that you spend a lot of your time trying to please others (mostly on your knees) but I can only hope that you each find ways to quickly and painfully end yourselves."

But they had no time for the BS responses, and neither did Samantha Bee, who explained why the women voted against the bill in the first place: Sports arenas cost taxpayers tons of money, and the waterfront location for this proposed arena would eliminate many jobs for industry workers.

In her segment on her late-night show "Full Frontal," Bee verbally annihilated the sexist creeps who insulted the councilwomen, whose impressive backgrounds and undeniable contributions to their community were celebrated on "Full Frontal" in a way that male viewers might better respond to: an ESPN-like team announcement for the "Seattle Seawards." (A playful twist on an oft used troll favorite, the "C-word.")

After hearing about the impressive credentials of the "Seawards" -- for example, Sawant was the driving force behind changing "Columbus Day" to "Indigenous People's Day" and González sued Seattle Police twice for police brutality and won both times -- we're with Bee on this one.
