11-Year-Old Collects Toys For Kids Who Have Less Than He Does, Is Basically Santa Claus

He’s an 11-year-old with a heart of gold. For the third year in a row, Samuel Love, a fifth-grader from Chicago, is hosting an ambitious toy drive so that kids who may be going through difficult times will get a special surprise this holiday season.

According to WGN-TV, Love launched his holiday toy drive this weekend. He’s reportedly aiming to collect 2,500 toys and gift cards this year.

At last year’s toy drive, Love is said to have collected 1,500 gifts, which he sent to children in Oklahoma, Colorado and elsewhere. "Every kid should have at least one present under the tree Christmas morning. I know I would be sad if I woke up and had no toys," he told DNAInfo.com last December.

“Two years ago, I decided that I didn’t want anything for Christmas because I saw on TV the devastation that happened in New York with Hurricane Sandy,” Love said this week during the launch of the 2014 toy drive. “I thought about the kids that lived there and that they had just lost everything, so instead of receiving toys, I wanted to give toys to the kids who really needed them.”

What a champion.

According to WGN-TV, donations to Love's toy drive can be dropped off inside the Studio Movie Grill Chatham Theater at 210 West 87th Street in Chicago.
