Shocking video shows the moment a gang of dirt-bike riders dragged a driver from his vehicle and repeatedly beat him in California, after hogging highway lanes and veering dangerously close to other cars. His leg was broken in the attack.

Police are hunting for around 15 bikers suspected of being involved in Wednesday’s assault on the motorist, later identified as a 35-year-old Uber driver called Alex, which occurred on Highway 101 at a San Francisco exit.

Video footage that witnesses filmed shows targeted car appearing to bump one of the bikers while they were weaving through lanes. The vehicle is cut off in traffic at one point by another car and comes to a stop. That’s when the bikers surround the car and attack the driver.

“He’s a good guy. He’s not a troublemaker or nothing like that,” his sister Natalie King told the San Francisco Chronicle. “I don’t understand why someone would beat him up,” she added, asking that his full name not be revealed out of fear of further retaliation.

The driver is in fair condition at a local hospital, doctors said.

His attackers are reportedly difficult to trace because none of the bikes appeared to have license plates.

City and state police are examining the footage that of the attack.
