Living in San Francisco is expensive. Really expensive.

This week, the Wall Street Journal reported on SF's newest property to hit the market--a whopping $30 million stunner perched on top of Pacific Heights. And while expensive homes are nothing new to San Francisco, this got us thinking--if homes go for $30 million, how high do rentals go?

While the average apartment goes for around $2,734 this year, that doesn't mean there aren't a few luxurious exceptions. Just when we think the rent can't possibly get any higher ($1,200 a month now gets you 220 square feet), this siren city surprises us yet again.
