A big fight is brewing over a proposal to run a new, $180 million power line through Colorado's San Luis Valley -- and many see it as a referendum on Colorado's efforts to build a "New Energy Economy."

Struggles over the infrastructure needed to carry electricity, oil or natural gas to consumers aren't new. But the same concerns raised over natural gas drilling, oil refineries and pipelines -- issues about need, location, and environmental and aesthetic impacts -- are now being raised when the energy comes from the wind and the sun, too.
