Sanjay Gupta Is Decades Too Late on Marijuana

The most dangerous thing of this entire situation is that Gupta is still licensed as a doctor and has just now come across the epiphany of overwhelming common sense.

Sanjay Gupta recently changed his position on marijuana by admitting that it indeed has beneficial medical properties and isn't as bad as he previously thought. Gupta is the resident doctor at the much respected 24-hour news network, CNN, which recently had breaking coverage of a wood door for a pointless child birth from the royal family. Also, basically everything else CNN has reported on has been a joke recently. At least Fox New is self-aware at how insane they are, and MSNBC doesn't even watch itself. CNN, when explaining the Hyperloop idea literally had a contributor zoom a toy plane around at the news desk making plane sounds.

Now, I'm no medical doctor, but I knew that by looking at medical journals when I was bored at 3 a.m. for less than five minutes that marijuana is beneficial. Sure, the argument that if you smoke a blunt and go driving around is dangerous is fair, but so is pretty much every drug out when paired with that option. I don't see parking spots at weed bars. I don't see bike racks at Vicodin corners. What do people that smoke weed want to do? Nothing. Seriously! Hang out with a group of people that are ready to go out for a night on the town. Introduce one of them who suggests smoking weed first. Everyone agrees, and guess what? You're not going anywhere. Everyone is watching reruns of Aqua Teen Hunger Force in the basement and one of you just fell asleep. The recreational danger of weed is that it kills motivation to leave or do anything. That is my main opposition to my recreational use of it is that it makes me not want to do anything. But if I needed it for medical reasons, I'd be first in line to buy the best pot instead of getting any narcotic pain killer.

The most dangerous thing of this entire situation is that Gupta is still licensed as a doctor and has just now come across the epiphany of overwhelming common sense and I wouldn't be surprised if he saw paper blowing in the wind and asked how that happened. If there were a doctor more akin to Dr. Nick Rivera from The Simpsons, I haven't seen worse... well, I mean, L. Ron Hubbard was a doctor, too, but he also made up his entire back story, and the college that accredited him. That guy was nuts.

I don't smoke marijuana, because I really don't have a need for it, plus I'm not a 17 year old wanting Taco Bell, but I know that if I were in pain, that is an immensely healthier alternative than popping a pill. I understand that if you break your leg, smoking a joint isn't going to null it. But people with a few medical problems can use it, not really big problems, only Cancer, migraines, seizures, glaucoma, insomnia, ADD/ADHD, Crohn's, IBS, Alzheimer's, and the list goes on. You'd have to be the dumbest human being on Earth to not see the benefits of marijuana. Or, you'd have to be paid to not look at the evidence, or to even disregard it. Kind of like how people disregard evolution as just a "theory," but don't disregard gravity, even though that is also just a "theory." I wish I could ignore gravity! I'll stop there because I'd rant about flying and it would sound like I just smoked weed. But my ranting doesn't hurt anybody, just like weed doesn't.

The fact that Sanjay Gupta just now admitted that weed has benefits puts into question the entire medium of experienced experts at CNN and all of the other major networks (except Fox, they know they're dumb). If their go to medical correspondent is so ignorant to the medical benefit of weed, then who else is lacking on the networks? Wolf Blitzer showed his intelligence when he went on Jeopardy and made a complete and utter fool of himself. Bill O'Reilly doesn't know how astronomy works because he couldn't explain how tides work, or why the sun rises and falls. These are people that we are supposed to get our news from? Their financial experts, medical experts, and every other expert they have should be put under a microscope for credibility reasons because they're wrong all the time, and they just play it off like meteorologists.

Look at this chart on drugs. The worst is at the top right, the lessened ones are toward the bottom. Before you get to marijuana, you get to the one or two things you've probably had today. Weed is listed way below heroin, cocaine, nicotine, and alcohol. Those four things are more dangerous and addicting than weed, but weed has to most damning reputation for absolutely no reason. So, let's all agree with something most of us have known for years, and Gupta just figured out: weed has medical benefits.
