An infamous party pad in Santa Monica, Calif. is officially on the market after months of a controversial marketing campaign.
Dubbed the "House of Rock" and located in an affluent, beachside neighborhood, the property became a target for the Santa Monica City Council after neighbors complained about the noise and traffic from the home's massive parties.
The events, put on by homeowner and high-end developer Elaine Culotti, were an updated way to market the 1926 English Tudor estate. She began hosting parties in September of this year, shortly after flipping it with high end furniture and expensive music equipment.
To combat the nuisance Culotti's parties brought to the neighborhood, the council at one point considered an emergency ordinance banning homeowners from hosting events of 150 people or more for the purposes of selling the house.
Once owned by actress and singer Kathryn Grayson, the 10,000 square foot mansion first went on sale in 2010 -- a few months after Grayson died. Culotti snatched up the for $7.7 million and renovated the home to include an expanded kitchen, his and hers master closets and baths, an infinity pool and a home theater, which is still being completed. The home also retains some old-world details like the English Oak paneling, minstrel’s gallery and hand-crafted leaded windows.
The home is now listed for $22 million.
