Santorum Mulling Presidential Bid, Says Palin Will 'Have To Do Some Explaining If She Runs'

Former Sen. Rick Santorum told ABC News on Monday that he's "absolutely" considering running for president.

Asked if former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin would make a viable competitor, Santorum was decidedly skeptical.

"I'll let the people decide that. I think, you know, she's done a lot to draw attention to herself that's positive," he said. "She's done some things that, you know, certainly are going to cause her to have to do some explaining if she runs for president. But right now I think she's on a roll, she's having a good time, she's having an impact."

Of course, Santorum himself lost reelection by a whopping 18 points in 2006. He is probably best known for saying in 2003 that consensual gay sex should not be legal.
