Sarah Naughton, Cook County Prosecutor, Accused Of Biting Man's Leg While Intoxicated

County Prosecutor Allegedly Bit Man's Leg While Intoxicated

A prosecutor with the Cook County State's Attorney's office is facing criminal charges after an incident where she allegedly bit a man while visibly intoxicated.

Police told the Chicago Sun-Times that Sarah Naughton, an Assistant State's Attorney for Cook County, was charged with misdemeanor battery and trespassing after becoming involved in an altercation with the owners of a lingerie store and a neighboring cigar shop on West Belmont around 7:25 p.m. Saturday.

Naughton, who was off duty at the time of the incident, has reportedly been placed on administrative duty and removed from litigation while her case is pending.

A video posted on YouTube and promoted on the content-sharing site Reddit purports to depict Naughton's arrest Saturday evening. In the video, a young blonde woman struggles and stumbles while in police custody, apparently intoxicated. (See footage above.)

The prosecutor was recently involved in prosecuting the case of Dawn Hamill, the owner of an animal sanctuary who was convicted of eight misdemeanor counts of neglect of owners duties earlier this month. Naughton delivered the closing statements at the high-profile trial, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The Cook County State's Attorney's office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
