Sarah Palin: Paul Ryan's Budget Is 'The Definition Of Insanity'

Former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin hammered Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) newest budget proposal in a Facebook post Tuesday, mocking the House Budget Committee Chairman’s proposal as a "joke."

“The latest Ryan (R, Wisconsin) Budget is not an April Fool’s joke," she wrote. "But it really IS a joke because it is STILL not seeing the problem."

Ryan's proposal, unveiled Tuesday, would slash $5.1 trillion in federal spending over the next decade through steep cuts to numerous social programs, including food stamps, Medicaid and pensions for federal workers.

Palin, however, characterized Ryan’s Republican budget plan as a weak attempt to address wasteful government spending.

“[I]nstead of speculating years out that some future Congress and White House may possibly, hopefully, eh-who-knows, take responsibility for today’s budgetary selfishness and shortsightedness to do so. THIS is the definition of insanity,” Palin wrote. "As my Dad would say after these April Fool’s announcements, 'This would kill a lesser man.'"

Ryan dismissed Palin’s criticism Wednesday on "Fox and Friends," advising the former Alaska governor to give the updated proposal a closer read.

"I'm a big fan of Sarah Palin and she has been very supportive of my earlier budgets. This cuts more spending than any other budget I’ve ever written," Ryan said. "I think she ought to take a look at the details, and I think she’d probably be pretty pleased. If she liked what we did before, she should clearly like what we’re doing here, which is very much in keeping with our constitutional principles: limited government, economic freedom, balancing the budget, creating jobs."
