A reporter covering Sarah Palin at a book signing on Thursday said that she and other members of the press were kept in a guarded room and prevented from talking to Palin and customers in the store.
Palin was at a Walmart near Wausau, Wisconsin to sign copies of her new book. Romenesko reported that Wausau Daily Herald reporter Theresa Clift was there to cover the event, and tweeted, "About 8 media members and myself now locked in a back room. We aren't allowed to talk to guests here to see Palin." She said that "the door was guarded" and the reporters "were told [they] couldn't leave."
Her updates continued:
Wausau Daily Herald editor Mark Treinen added, "Media restrictions for @SarahPalinUSA event: Journalists told if they needed to go to bathroom, they could ask for escort."
Clift was eventually released from the room, spoke to some customers and recorded footage of Palin signing books.
