Sarah Palin hopes the GOP presidential nominee "goes rogue" and picks someone like her as his running mate.
"Top of my list is Allen West," she said on 'Hannity' Tuesday night following the Wisconsin, Maryland and DC primaries. "I love that he has that military experience, he is a public servant willing to serve for the right reasons. When I talk about going rogue, what I want is to encourage the GOP nominee to not think that they have to go with somebody necessarily safe. No matter who it is, they're going to get clobbered. The media will make things up about them and their record and their reputations and their families."
Palin said she would choose Rep. West (R-Fl.) because he "understands the Constitution and wants to put government back on the side of the people."
When asked whether she would consider Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fl.), a Tea Party favorite who endorsed Romney last week, Palin said, "He's great, too. He is another one. There is a long list."
It wasn't the first time the former Alaska governor said that West should be on the GOP ticket.
"You know who I'd like to see considered for the VP slot is Colonel Allen West," she told Fox News last month. "In this very tumultuous time across our world, someone who has served in our military or at least has intimate knowledge of the way the military works and should work, perhaps by having a close family member serve, someone like that."
"Colonel Allen West, who's been to the school of hard knocks, he should be the one who should be considered seriously for VP," she said, before noting that the prospect of a second vice presidential run for herself is "not a no."
Palin's advice echoed comments she made while co-hosting the 'Today' show Tuesday.
"What I would advise the nominee, Mitt Romney, or whomever the nominee is: Don't necessarily play it safe and do just what the GOP establishment expects them to do," she said.
She added that while a VP candidate's national experience doesn't matter because either way "they're gonna get clobbered by the lamestream media," the nominee needs to avoid picking "somebody just kinda going along to get along, not willing to really shake it up, not willing to go rogue and shake it up and say that we need relentless and we need sudden reform of our government to put it back on the side of the people."
During her 'Today' appearance, Palin also mentioned that if someone criticized her weight gain while she was pregnant, she would "have wanted to punch 'em in the neck."
