Sarah Paulson is ready to get political for the upcoming election-themed season of “American Horror Story.”

“I’d like to play Donald Trump,” the actress told The Hollywood Reporter on Sunday. “If Donald Trump is going to be in a character in it ... Why not? That’s an acting challenge to be sure.”

We’re here for that casting choice. (Ryan Murphy, please make it happen!)

At this point, it’s still unclear how — or if — a Trump character will appear in the season. In various interviews about the upcoming season, “AHS” creator Ryan Murphy flip-flopped on his answers.

In mid-February, Murphy appeared on “Watch What Happens Live,” where he revealed there might be a Trump character involved. Later that month, he backtracked, saying, “The themes of ‘American Horror Story’ have always been allegories. You will not see Trump and Clinton as characters on the show,” while accepting an award at the Publicists Guild Awards.

In early March, however, he spoke to E! News, and it appeared he changed his tune again. When asked whether he had cast Trump and Clinton characters, Murphy told the outlet, “No, not yet. We’re halfway through the writing and not yet.”

Whatever Murphy decides, we can’t wait to watch.
