We had to see it to believe it, but Donatella Versace did, in fact, cast a non-blonde in her most recent campaign.
Women's Wear Daily announced the shakeup last month, explaining that brown-haired babe Saskia de Brauw had been captured by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot's lens for fall. Donatella, who typically hires, well, mini Donatellas, told the fashion newspaper, "I thought about how in the past, when Gianni used girls like Kristen McMenamy and Stella Tennant, everyone was always saying, 'Wow, this is not a Versace girl, she is not blonde.' Sometimes you need to renew yourself to work better and to make a little bit of a push....I want to push something different and new."
