These Presidents' Names Are The Most Popular For Schools

In late November, a Texas school board voted to name an elementary school after George W. Bush, the 43rd president of the United States. According to the Dallas Morning News, the elementary school is set to open during the 2016-2017 school year in Wylie Independent School District.

Other names were mentioned, but when you look at what President and Mrs. Bush stand for, and the legacy they continue to write both in Texas and across the nation, we are honored to have a school named for them,” Stacie Gooch, a school board member in the district, told the outlet.

Amid this news, we decided to look at what other K-12 schools were named after presidents, using a National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) search tool. Below are the presidents who had the most schools named after them.

Notably, results from the NCES tool differ depending on whether just their last name or full name is searched. We searched using presidents' full names.

Recent presidents tended to have fewer schools named after them. Below are the five most recent presidents, in order of how many schools are named after them.
