Scott Brown Ad Focuses On Physical Abuse

Scott Brown's campaign for senator from New Hampshire released a new ad Wednesday focusing on the Republican's family experience with physical abuse.

"We moved a lot, our mom was married and divorced many times," Brown's sister LeeAnn Riley says in the ad. "There was physical abuse in the home, but Scott was there to protect myself and my mom."

"Nobody should have to grow up like that, but it made Scott who he is today -- he's determined to do the right thing," Riley adds. "When people ask me what kind of man he is, I tell them he'll be there for you like he has been for me."

The ad will start airing Thursday on WMUR, WBIN and cable networks, the Washington Post reports.

Brown, who previously served as a senator from Massachusetts and moved permanently to New Hampshire in December 2013, first spoke about his rough childhood -- including sexual abuse at the hands of a camp counselor -- in his 2011 book Against All Odds.
