Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) said Organizing For America, the Democratic National Committee's organizing arm, is involved in his June 5 recall election.
Walker was asked by conservative outlet Newsmax whether he thought President Barack Obama or the White House is working to defeat him in an interview posted Sunday.
"I think Organizing for America, which obviously is connected to the president’s political machine, and groups like MoveOn.org, and others are involved," he said. "I think you’ll see the most radical elements on the left are going to be involved in this recall, because again for them, this is so critically important."
Walker also said that unions planned to spend as much as $60 million against him. From January 2011 to mid-January of 2012, Walker raised $12.1 million. Walker was allowed to raise unlimited funds by law from the day recall petitions were circulated, Nov. 4 until the election was certified March 30.
OFA didn't respond to requests for comment.
OFA also provided some turnout-building assistance in the legislative recalls last August.
OFA mobilized followers to oppose Walker's ultimately successful legislation to end collective bargaining rights for most public workers. The group then replicated the efforts in Ohio and Indiana.
The Republican National Committee formally backed Walker in a recently approved statement and is engaging in get-out-the-vote efforts, according to CNN.
Later in the interview, Walker claimed there would be a "dramatic takeoff" in job creation after the June 5 recall, which he expects to prevail in.
"I think the big thing that people are waiting for is to have the certainty in knowing this positive outlook for job creators is going to continue and that's why I think after June 5 and after these primaries are done and the lieutenant governor and these senators prevail I think it means there'll be a clear message to job creators -- the small business owners in the state -- that now's the time to add jobs," he said.
Democrats are choosing their candidate to face Walker in a May 8 primary, the recall election is June 5.
