Babylonia Aivaz, Seattle Resident, Stages 'Gay Wedding' To 107-Year-Old Warehouse Building (VIDEO)

WATCH: Seattle Woman's 'Gay Wedding' To 107-Year-Old Warehouse

Seattle resident Babylonia Aivaz looked every inch the blushing bride at her weekend wedding -- but the nuptials themselves were anything but traditional.

As WCTI and Towleroad are reporting, Aivaz tied the knot with a 107-year-old abandoned warehouse in the process of being demolished. The local activist, who was among the Occupy Seattle protesters and said she hoped to save the building for use as a community center, deemed her wedding a "gay marriage" as the building is a woman.

On her Facebook invitation to the wedding, Aivaz wrote, “Yes, I’m in love with a 107 year old building! Yes, ITS A GAY MARRIAGE! How is that possible? Well there must obviously be a deeper story." The event drew about 30 attendees, who sang songs, enjoyed refreshments and made merriment before Aivaz said her vows.

"If corporations can have the rights as people, so can buildings," Aivaz told KOMO. "I'm doing this to show the building how much I love it, how much I love community space and how much I love this neighborhood. And I want to stop it from gentrification."

Sadly, as KOMO pointed out, demolition work on the building remains scheduled.
