Secretary Madeleine Albright: "Americans Are the Most Generous People In the World With The Shortest Attention Span"

In this clip, the panel featuring former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, NY Times Columnist Nicholas Kristof, Ambassador Richard Williamson and Director of the Committee on Conscience Michael Abramowitz discuss why it is in U.S. national interest to care about conflicts happening in other countries. Secretary Albright explains that it is in our interest to care about conflicts in other countries because eventually "these problems come home to America in some form or the other." She also says "Americans are the most generous people in the world with the shortest attention span." On why the United Nations isn't able to improve the suffering in the countries he covers, Kristof says there are no easy solutions for these problems and "in the presence of all that uncertainty, it's always easier if you don't really know what to do to just wait one more day...and things get delayed."
