Selena Gomez World Tour: Singer Announces Dates For 2013 'Stars Dance' Tour

Selena Gomez Announces World Tour

Fresh off her live performance at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, Selena Gomez revealed she will embark on a world tour this summer.

On Monday, Gomez announced her "Stars Dance" world tour when she phoned in to "On Air with Ryan Seacrest." The United States leg of the 56-city tour will kick off Oct. 10 in Washington, D.C., and will include shows in San Antonio, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

"It’s going to be a bigger show," the 20-year-old, who also posted the news on Facebook, told Seacrest. "I’m excited. I’ve been dancing a lot and I just want to entertain people and I’m super stoked.”

As for the theme, Gomez wants to channel some of her idols.

"I kind of miss shows when it just used to be about the dancing and the performing as opposed to how big and elaborate the stage is," she told Seacrest. "So I kind of want to get back to that. My favorites were Britney [Spears] and Janet Jackson. So I kind of want to do a little bit more dancing, and just make it about the entertainment and about the show and the songs, as opposed to how big the stage or how many effects we can have."

The singer got back into the groove of things on Sunday at the MTV Movie Awards after taking a two-year break from music to focus on her acting career. Gomez debuted her new single "Come & Get It" on stage with a live Bollywood-inspired performance, earning herself some accolades from Spears.

Tickets for Gomez's world tour can be purchased via her official website on April 20.
