If you’re a fan of Selena Quintanilla’s music, most likely you’ve watched her 1997 bio pic, “Selena,” starring Jennifer Lopez.

The movie came out just two years after the Tejano singer was murdered by Yolanda Saldívar, Quintanilla’s friend and former president of her fan club.

Quintanilla’s widower, Chris Perez, attended the premiere but wrote on Facebook that his “eyes were closed” during it. Twenty years later, Perez stumbled upon an airing of it on Lifetime, and decided to actually watch the movie for the first time.

Perez posted continuous commentary on Facebook as he watched the film.

He approved of the the actor Jon Seda’s portrayal of him:

He also had something to add to that very cute restaurant scene in which Selena talks about her love for pizza:

He also had something to say about the scene in which the Selena coaxes Chris to dance on their tour bus, which turns into the couple’s first kiss:

He admitted that he really did trash a hotel room while on tour with Selena:

Perez also confirmed that the “collapsing stage” scene was real, as well:

Perez wrote that he couldn’t watch the end of the movie, but praised Lopez on her performance:

Thanks for the memories, Chris!
