You don't need to have it all to lend a helping hand -- and this man is proof.
As Winter Storm Jonas buried the East Coast in snow this past weekend, one good Samaritan was seen helping drivers who were stuck in the snow at the Midlothian Turnpike in Virginia. NBC12's Ashley Monfort captured the act of kindness in a video and discovered that the man, whose name is Curtis, is in fact homeless.
"I saw them getting stuck so I went to help them out," he said in the clip. "Because at times, people help me out. ... One hand washes the other one."
According to the video description, Curtis was staying in between two buildings. Whenever he spotted cars experiencing some difficulty, he'd help the drivers push their cars. He said in the video that he had helped about seven cars that day.
Curtis said that the people he helped weren't aware he's homeless.
The local news crew ended up getting coffee and hot food for the man, and gave him money so he could get to a shelter.
Especially with the weather conditions so severe, Curtis' act seems tremendously compassionate. But the humble man didn't indulge in any self-praise.
"It's just the right thing to do, you know," he said in the video. "I'm a kind person -- see them stuck, might as well help them. ... No need to walk on by and see them stuck like that."
