As Women's History Month is coming to a close, a unique event took place in the nation's capital where women celebrated themselves and each other. The "Self-Love & Sisterhood" event combined an empowerment brunch, an open-forum conversation and a rooftop balloon release as the event finale. The event was created by Krystal Glass. Glass is the founder & host of Washington, DC's Real-Life Conversation Club, a monthly conversation meet-up for the city's young professionals to connect and discuss real-life topics. As the conversations began to rapidly grow, Krystal saw a need to create a women-only conversation and has since created the Self-Love & Sisterhood series to serve as an outlet for busy professional women to connect with other women through sisterhood.

Traditionally, women's history month is dedicated to honoring past trail blazers. When asked about the significance of women's history month and the Self-Love & Sisterhood event, Krystal Glass had this to say:

"Like most of today's go-getter millennial women, I'm working towards leaving a legacy of success. As we look back at history it's important that we honor the successes and great strides women have made. I've found that an area that's often not honored is the level of sisterhood it took for past trailblazing women to unite to collectively make an impact."

Self-love and sisterhood are essentials for any women. I created the Self-Love & Sisterhood event series as an outlet for busy millennial women to celebrate themselves and each other."

Interestingly enough, with the ever-growing #BlackGirlMagic hashtag, we are witnessing more Women of Color transforming the online hashtag into an offline lifestyle. Whether it's women uniting and bonding through natural hair, fashion, politics or social justice; you will commonly see the hashtag #BlackGirlMagic which promotes an underlying sense of sisterhood.

Women's History Month takes on a different meaning for many women, some see it as a tribute to women's equality, some see it as the sacrifices made during the "Ain't I A Woman" movement, and many see it as a collective celebration of women. It appears this group of women have taken a new refreshing take on Women's History Month as they celebrated sisterhood within the black community.
