John Legend and Common are favored to score an Oscar nomination for "Glory," the original song that plays over the end credits of "Selma." But "Glory" isn't the only music moment in the film that should have fans racing to Spotify after exiting the theater. There's also Fink's "Yesterday Was Hard On All Of Us," which director Ava DuVernay uses during a montage of real-life footage from Martin Luther King Jr.'s march to Montgomery, Alabama.
"Having previously used our song 'Perfect Darkness' in her 2012 film 'Middle Of Nowhere,' we were thrilled when Ava asked to use 'Yesterday Was Hard On All Of Us' -– the live version we played with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra -- in a climactic scene in 'Selma,'" wrote Fink on its website.
Listen to "Yesterday Was Hard On All Of Us" below. Thanks to Literatigurl for the heads up.
