Three Omaha high school students accused of adding their semen to pastry icing in a home economics class are facing disciplinary actions.
Omaha Police said the students, ages 14 and 15, were making the turnovers at Westside High School on Thursday.
Investigators said the students went to the bathroom during class, masturbated into containers and then mixed the fluid into the frosting when they returned to class, according to the Omaha World-Herald.
The 58-year-old teacher sampled the turnovers and noticed they didn’t taste quite right, according to the paper.
The teacher learned that the frosting was tainted from a student who reported overhearing the boys discuss their plan, according to The Smoking Gun.
Police were called to the school to interview the teens. The Omaha Police Department said the three admitted they had planned to mix semen into the turnover and present it to the teacher for sampling, according to an OPD news release.
Two of the teens admitted they had actually placed their semen into the frosting, while the third said he decided not to take part in the prank at the last minute, Omaha police said.
Initially, all three students were ticketed for “misdemeanor assault,” according to Omaha station KETV. However, one law enforcement official told the Omaha World Herald that it was later learned there is no state law governing this kind of act. The students can’t be charged with assault because the prank they are accused of didn’t cause bodily injury.
The Huffington Post contacted the Omaha Police Department and the Douglas County Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office to clarity what charges, if any, might be filed against the teens. Both offices told HuffPost the students were “street-released,” and they expect to file charges in the coming days. Neither office offered any specifics as to what those charges would be.
The students could face serious disciplinary action from school officials, according to a statement from Westside High:
“An incident took place Thursday at Westside High School involving three students and a staff member. We are not commenting on specifics involved in this case, other than to say we offer our complete support to the staff member involved, and we are working with Omaha police to determine what/if any criminal citations are issued. These students will face consequences, but per district policy, we cannot release specifics regarding the course of punishment. This incident is NOT indicative of Westside High School or any of our schools, environments that promote respect for all of our staff members and students.”
