As one of the fastest-growing crimes in the U.S., it's not shocking that identity theft has topped the list of consumer complaints to the Federal Trade Commission for more than five years. In the past, people in their 20's have reported the most identity theft complaints to the FTC. However, in the past three years, there has been a shift from 20-somethings to people ages 50 and older.
