On September 4th the Last Quarter moon will pass in front of one of the brightest stars in the sky, Aldebaran, known as the angry orange eye of Taurus the Bull. Taurus the Bull is hard to miss since it's one of the most visible of all the constellations.
If you recall your Greek mythology, when Zeus fell in love with the Phoenician princess Europa, he transformed himself into a white bull with golden horns to whisk her away from Crete.
But what message does this Last Quarter moon in Taurus hold for us mortals?
The Moon in Taurus favors "material actions" that yield solid, dependable results. Specifically, it concerns financial activities, those involving your investments, personal possessions, loan applications.
The illusion may be that the stock market will go up forever and your money is safe while it's invested in the market. To anyone watching the U.S. stock markets tumble in recent days, with the Dow Jones average going down more than a 1,000 points, it should be a wake up call. It is, likely a time to become realistic about your finances and secure your assets.
The Last Quarter moon is known as a time of making readjustments in those areas where we recognize we have been disillusioned. Café Astrology, describes the Last Quarter lunar phase this way:
LAST QUARTER MOON
The key word for the Last Quarter is "readjustment." It is the hardest to identify as many of its characteristics are hidden. As the First Quarter experiences "crisis in action", the Third Quarter experiences "crisis in consciousness". Old systems and values are becoming useless. It is hard for people born at this time to relate to life in the here and now. They often appear to be living in a world of their own, when in actuality they are going through an internal process of reorientation. They will present to the world an acceptable face as they are quietly developing on the inside.
At the point when our own internal self has been completed, a brand new, fully developed person emerges. This butterfly is quite different from the caterpillar it had been, and is quite the surprise to those who thought they "knew" them. These people need the time and space to find themselves. If pressured to conform, they may revolt causing others to regard them as uncooperative and rebellious. As children, they require a lot of "alone" time and may need more rest than others as they process much in their sleep and in meditative states.
Astrologer, Dana Gerhardt explains it well, "Our perception needs cleansing at the Last Quarter. Our field is clogged with residue from our growth cycle. A less inward and thoughtful period, the waxing Moon drags in its wake immoderate desires, faulty judgments, misguided ambitions. Having been so attuned to the outer world, we may have behaved in ways that won us social approval, but took us away from our innermost selves. 'Is that all there is' we may find ourselves asking. The underlying desire is to reconnect with our essence."
Use this Last Quarter Moon to take a critical look at your life, relationships and your finances. Ask yourself if you've been under any false delusions that need to be corrected. This lunar event is the perfect time to rethink how well your life is going in these areas. Be willing to make some readjustments to make whatever isn't working, work better. If adjustments haven't worked, be open to eliminating and letting go of whatever is necessary to let go.
This is the time to ground your life in reality not illusion.
