'Serena' Trailer Reunites Jennifer Lawrence With Bradley Cooper

Forgotten Jennifer Lawrence Movie Gets First Trailer

Here's how long it has been since "Serena" started development: it was first reported that stars Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper were cast in Susanne Bier's drama on Jan. 30, 2012, 10 months before the duo would appear on screen in "Silver Linings Playbook" and two months prior to Lawrence's star-making performance in "The Hunger Games." This one has been on the shelf for a while.

Now, though, "Serena" is here. Sort of. Bier's adaptation of Ron Rash's 1930s-set novel will premiere during the London Film Festival in October and arrive in U.K. theaters on Oct. 24. There is no U.S. release date at this time, however, which is a bummer considering the plot: Lawrence and Cooper play Serena and George Pemberton, newlyweds who move to North Carolina to create a timber empire. Once there, Serena realizes she can't bear children, which sets her out on a path to destroy George's illegitimate son. At the time of the casting, Vulture noted that the part could be Lawrence's very own Lady MacBeth. It all sounds so juicy in print. Someday, maybe American audiences will see how it translated onto the screen.
