Serena Williams Orders Espresso During A Match Because She's Serena Williams

Many of us routinely charge up with coffee at the office, but Serena Williams' workplace is a little different.

Watch Williams hilariously order an espresso during a match Monday against Flavia Pennetta at the Hopman Cup in Perth, Australia. After losing the first set 6-0, Williams inquired about the permissibility of ordering caffeinated sustenance with the chair umpire and tournament referee, Associated Press reported.

She got what she wanted, sipping the brew while covering her mouth with a napkin.

Those must have been some beans. Williams roared back to defeat Pennetta, 0-6, 6-3, 6-0 as part of a 3-0 U.S. team victory over Italy.

"I was just feeling it, so I just had to get some coffee into me," the top-ranked Williams told the AP . "I just asked them to get me a shot of espresso — I asked them if it was legal, because I've never done it before. I needed to wake up."

CNN reported that Williams joked she wanted coffee to go with her "bagel," the zero she recorded in the first set.

"Everyone needs coffee every now and then," she said, according to CNN. "I needed coffee to get my feet moving."

Williams could have used a cup on Tuesday. She lost to Canadian Eugenie Bouchard, 6-2, 6-1.
