Well, THAT was fast.
A day after announcing his separation from wife Susan, rumor has it Seth Avett of the Avett Brothers is already romancing a new woman -- and she's famous, as well. The 32-year-old singer is dating "Dexter" star Jennifer Carpenter, sources confirm to Us Weekly. The pair, who have been friends for years, reportedly sparked up a romantic relationship a few months ago.
"Jennifer met Seth about four years ago at a concert," an insider tells Us. "She loves music and has always been a big supporter of the band. The relationship developed over the past few months."
Avett, who had been with his wife Susan since 2008, revealed yesterday (June 11) that the couple have "been separated for some time" -- and his connection with Carpenter might explain why. The 33-year-old actress was previously married to her "Dexter" co-star and on-screen brother, Michael C. Hall, who publicly battled Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2010. Carpenter stood by him through all of his treatments, but the pair split shortly after Hall announced he was in remission. Their divorce was finalized in Dec. 2011 and Hall is now dating Morgan Macgregor.
As for whether or not Carpenter was the reason for Avett's divorce, a source tells Us, "They were friends for a long time, but the relationship did not start until he and his wife were separated. There is no bad blood there."
Carpenter and Avett "have a lot in common and seem to have a similar sense of humor," the source adds. "There is an ease about their relationship. Friends and family couldn't be happier for them. They are a good match."
And despite all the reports of possible infidelity, Susan stood by her ex, telling Us, "It saddens me to hear of such unfounded speculation surrounding the end of our marriage, which is in and of itself a difficult time for both of us. I ask that for our sake, and the sake of our family and friends, that everyone respect our privacy during this time."
