Seth Meyers Takes The GOP To School On Christine Blasey Ford's Testimony

“Her testimony today was a towering act of courage," the "Late Night" host said of the psychologist who accused Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh of assault.

The nation was riveted Thursday by the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing of Christine Blasey Ford’s allegation that President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when they were in high school.

So, of course, Seth Meyers took “A Closer Look” at it on “Late Night,” coming down squarely on the side of professor Blasey.

“The Republicans’ constant sniping and their obvious attempts to obstruct the process and brush Ford aside did not deter her in any way,” Meyers said. “Her testimony today was a towering act of courage given the trauma she’s survived. Her grace and composure under unimaginable pressure, which she owed no one, was stunning. At one point, Dr. Ford, a research psychologist, literally explained to the panel how memory works.”

Meyers was also impressed with Blasey’s intellect.

“She’s in the middle of testifying in the intense glare of the national spotlight about an alleged sexual assault by a Supreme Court nominee and she just taught everyone how the brain works,” Meyers said of her answer to a question about how she could be sure that Kavanaugh had been her attacker. “She gave a detailed anatomy of the hippocampus and the memory centers of the brain to a group of guys who look like they eat brains.”
