Self-improvement is one of the foundations of success. Whether you have personal or professional goals in front of you, being able to constantly improve, grow and change as the world around you evolves is paramount to finding success.

In some situations, our reactions to the world around us leads to this type of personal growth. However, if you really want to accelerate your progress towards your goals, you need to have a growth mindset.

This isn’t an easy process. It won’t happen overnight. You need to be diligent, disciplined and work at it every day. In order to start making this type of self-betterment part of your daily routine, you should begin asking yourself some introspective questions every day.

Here are seven daily questions to ask yourself in an effort to help accelerate your personal growth and push you forward into the next goals and phases of your life.

1. What does your big picture look like?

The basics of self-improvement all come down to first knowing where you want to be and then determining the best path to getting there.

Before you can start growing you need to know what growth means to you and what end-goal you are working towards. Know what your “big picture” looks like so you can visualize it with every action you take.

2. What is your purpose?

In order to truly develop as a person, you need to know the reason behind your efforts.

Goals are important, but they aren’t everything. They are milestones and markers to track your progress. Having goals for yourself isn’t enough. There needs to be a reason why you are setting these goals for yourself and a meaning behind what you are doing.

Without a purpose you will never have the drive to make the changes you need to make in life to help you grow for the better.

3. What is holding me back from making the strides I want to make?

Accelerated personal growth is all about speeding up the process of personal development. It is about making bigger, faster strides and getting farther than you have in the past. Stop and think about why you haven’t made the personal changes you have wanted to at this point.

What has been holding you back?

The sooner you are able to address and acknowledge what is holding you back, the sooner you will be able to overcome these obstacles and move forward. If you don’t know why you haven’t made the progress you have wanted to so far, you will never be able to grow at the pace you want to.

4. What things do I want to change in my life?

This is actually a multi-faceted question. You need to think about what it is that you want to change in your life in order to achieve the growth that you want, and you also need to think about the things that you want to keep or maintain in your life.

Growth is not about changing everything in your life. It is about changing the right things. It is about growing and building on the foundation that you have set for yourself and always moving forward. Be clear about what you want to keep and change so you can focus on maintaining the good and fixing the bad.

5. What am I going to do today to help me achieve my long-term goals?

Long-term goals are a great way to keep you motivated and focused on your bigger picture. However, just because these goals are far off in the future, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be working on them every day.

Ask yourself what you are doing on this day in your life to put yourself one step closer to your bigger goals and to growing as a person. One of the most important things to remember about growth is that it is not indicative of time. It does not naturally happen as people age. Growth is purposeful. Growth requires emotional intelligence and awareness.

Making purposeful steps towards you end goal every day is the key difference between natural personal growth and the accelerated growth you are looking for.

6. Am I doing enough for myself?

If you want to grow as a person, you need to take care of yourself as a person. Make sure that you are doing something for yourself every day. Not for others or for your career, but for yourself. Even if it is only 15 minutes of quiet time, you need to take care of yourself before you can better yourself.

7. Do I know how to grow?

The ‘what’ and ‘why’ of personal growth are important, but so is the how. You may want to grow, know why you want to grow and be dedicated towards making this growth a reality, but it doesn’t mean that you know how.

Ask yourself everyday if you have the resources you need in order to grow in the way you want. Whether these resources are seminars, business interview podcasts, blogs or advice from a mentor you need to have the right tools and know how to use those tools if you want to see results.
