Seventeen Magazine's 'Pretty Amazing' Contest Searches For Real Teen Cover Girl

What Makes YOU 'Pretty Amazing'?

Seventeen magazine is on the search for an extraordinary teen to put on the cover of their October 2013 issue. The annual "Pretty Amazing" contest for girls ages 15-22 has officially launched, with entries open until April 30. The winner of the contest will also win a $10,000 scholarship from Neutrogena.

This year, Carly Rae Jepsen will also have a hand in choosing the finalists and winner.

“It’s impressive that Seventeen is seeking out these incredible young women and sharing their stories to inspire other girls around the world," said Jepsen. "So much beauty comes from within, and these Pretty Amazing girls prove that.”

In 2012, student-athlete Lindsay Brown claimed the coveted Seventeen title after submitting her personal story. The 21-year-old soccer player at Notre Dame gave up her own place on the team -- and a full scholarship -- in order to fully commit herself to the success of the non-profit she created, the SEGway project. The SEGway project aims to teach sports and self-confidence to young girls in developing countries.

In a video (watch above) from She's the First, a nonprofit organization that focuses on the education of girls in developing countries, Lindsay talked about how she started a tie-dye cupcake fundraiser to sponsor young women who want to play soccer in Nepal.

"Once we received the first picture of Heema, who we sponsored, and learned a little bit about who Heema was, we wanted to do another bake sale," Lindsay said. "It just became real. It's not just a money amount and some girl in this distant country."
