Shannen Doherty penned a touching note to her husband, Kurt Iswarienko, on Instagram Monday, honoring his promise to stick by her in sickness and in health.
The actress, who’s been openly battling breast cancer, shared a throwback photo from the couple’s wedding day. The two are holding hands, with Doherty looking over her shoulder, smiling. The two were married in 2011.
“Our wedding was exceptional and not for the big event it was. It was exceptional because we committed for better or worse, in sickness or in health to love and cherish one another,” she wrote. “Those vows have never meant more than they do now. Kurt has stood by my side thru sickness and makes me feel more loved now than ever. I would walk any path with this man. Take any bullet for him and slay every dragon to protect him. He is my soul mate. My other half. I am blessed.”
Doherty posted the picture as part of the #loveyourspousechallenge, which encourages couples to share photos, along with a story about why they love their partner or a memory from their relationship, for a week on social media.
For the second day of the challenge, Doherty posted a photo of her and Iswarienko during a trip to Vail.
The former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star was challenged by her friend and fellow actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, who has also been by Doherty’s side as she continues to fight her cancer battle.
Gellar praised Doherty on Instagram about a month ago, calling the “Heathers” star “brave” and “one of the most loyal friends” she’s known.
Gellar added, “While she is facing the toughest journey of her life, she is sharing it with friends she has never met in the hopes of helping other people who are going through the same struggle. That’s a true friend.”
