Shark Feeding Frenzy Caught On Video At Cape Lookout, North Carolina

CAUGHT ON VIDEO: Waves Of Hungry Sharks Crash Down Onto Beach

What's more terrifying than seeing a shark? How about standing on a beach, where you think you're safe, only to have dozens of hungry sharks come crashing onto the shore in a feeding frenzy.

That's just what happened recently on a North Carolina beach.

Donnie Griggs, who captured the footage, was out fishing with friends at Cape Lookout last Thursday when they witnessed the unusual scene, according to the description on the YouTube page. He estimates that there were more than 100 sharks in the frenzy, feeding off a school of bluefish.

The fish apparently ran out of ocean while trying to escape the feeding frenzy -- and the sharks weren't the only creatures trying to eat them. Dozens of seagulls and pelicans also joined in.

The attack of the land sharks lasted about five minutes.

"We want it to be clear that Cape Lookout and the surrounding beaches of Eastern North Carolina are extremely safe for swimming," Brian Recker, who posted the video, wrote. "The presence of these sharks and large schools of fish is actually a sign of a very healthy ecosystem."
