In Honor Of Shark Week: The Kids In The Hall's 'Skoora The Gentle Shark' Sketch (VIDEO)

FLASHBACK: The Kids In The Hall Sing 'Skoora The Gentle Shark'

Shark Week always inspires a lot of excitement as well as a lot of discussion. In popular culture, sharks are often portrayed as bloody-thirsty beasts that can attack you anywhere at anytime, even on land, and some say this characterization promotes the poaching, finning and sport hunting that have lead to the endangerment of many species. To that end, the Discovery Channel has made a concerted effort to partner with environmental groups to make Shark Week not only a ratings bonanza, but also a way to promote greater understanding and respect for sharks.

But if all this talk of shark understanding is reminding you of something, it's because back in 1989, The Kids In The Hall had a sketch in Season One of their show that called for just such a thing. So in honor of sharks, Shark Week, and forgiveness, we invite you to take a look back at "Skoora, The Gentle Shark."
