She Keeps Bees Brings Soulful Blues Rock Sound To HuffPost Live (VIDEO)

WATCH: Brooklyn Blues Duo She Keeps Bees Performs On HuffPost Live

Brooklyn-based blues rock duo She Keeps Bees joined HuffPost Live on Nov. 12 to share the group's soulful sound by performing songs "See Me" and "All Or None/Dark Horse."

She Keeps Bees includes vocalist and guitarist Jessica Larrabee and drummer Andy LaPlant. Their stripped-down vibe has drawn comparisons to The White Stripes, Cat Power and Patti Smith, and they also find inspiration in music legends of the 1960s.

"I would want to just be in the room with Nina Simone to just let her put her power all over me," Larrabee said. "And we just saw this documentary about Jimi Hendrix. He's like, a beautiful energy and humble and living for the music, and I think that's what we respond to, this nurturing."

The pair met in New Orleans, where Larrabee was making music and working as a bartender and LaPlant was attending school. LaPlant was looking to find work as a sound engineer and seeking musicians to record, so he began working with Larrabee and the relationship flourished in both musical and romantic ways.

"The music has been intertwined with our personal relationship since the beginning, so it's really all we know as a couple and as a duo," LePlant said.
