What's the best way to raise your child? There are hundreds of parenting books that claim to hold the answer. But Dr. Shefali Tsabary, clinical psychologist and author of The Conscious Parent and The Awakened Family, has been making waves with her unconventional ideas on modern parenting. It's not the child we need to "fix," she says, but the parent.

"I think the most evolved mothers I've met are those who have figured out that their children will be who their children will be," Tsabary says. "And their job is not to control and fix and prod them along, but it is to allow for the unfolding of their essence."
In short, Tsabary believes in letting children be their authentic selves. "And those mothers who have such confidence in their own being and their own spirit ... allow the child to find their own destiny," she adds.
